New Leaf Spa :: Clumber Park

I can't remember the last time I spent a whole day doing nothing, so I felt no guilt whatsoever about having a day doing just that to celebrate my birthday. Last week mum and I went to Clumber Park for a day at the spa.

Clumber Park played a big part in my childhood. It's beautiful at any time of year and is worth paying the rather steep parking fee. I actually didn't know it had a hotel and spa to offer to until mum revealed what my birthday gift was!

We arrived around 10am and picked our lunch. We were then shown to the changing rooms where we whipped our cossies on and made our way to the pool. In the name of relaxation, I left my camera in my bag. I even left my phone at home! I'm so busy all the time and find it hard to switch off, so it was important to me to force myself some down time.

There's a pool, steam room, sauna, indoor and outdoor jacuzzi and free facial masks to enjoy. Just before lunch we had a treatment too - I had a hot stone body massage. It was a very blissful 55 minutes!

For lunch I had a pear, beetroot, hazelnut and feta salad, along with a salmon omelette. Mum had the salmon fishcake with vegetables. New Leaf Spa day packages generally cost £40-£60 per person, which is worth it considering you can spend the entire day there (which we did).

I think if I came to a spa again I'd book a night's stay in the hotel and really make the most of it!
