Word Of The Week: Incorrigible

A friend once told me I was incorrigible.  I went around feeling rather smug that I'd been described with such an unusual word, until I discovered it means to be 'incurably bad' or 'not readily improved' - direct quotes from the dictionary!  You have to admire said friend's brutal honesty.

Being incorrigible is a step up from being stubborn I suppose - online dictionaries describe it as 'firmly rooted' and 'difficult or impossible to control or manage' ... I like to think of it as meaning to stick to one's guns.  It is on this basis that I decided to take it as a compliment!
